Mission Sunday 2018 at St Thomas’s Church, Lancaster

Display Board

On Sunday 14th January, St Thomas’s Church, Lancaster held its annual Mission Sunday. St Tees, as it is also known, supports 12 Missions, including 1Step2Step. On Mission Sunday, all twelve missions set up displays and a selection are given an opportunity to share what God is doing and what the prayer needs are at each of the three services. The children’s and youth work are not left out and Emma, Sally and John shared what Nicola is doing with 1Step2step with some of the groups.

Prayer Pals

The children, who came back into church towards the end of the services, were particularly drawn by the Prayer Pals – frogs, crabs, scorpions, elephants, geckos etc – and seemed more than willing to part with £1 in order to have a reminder to pray for Nicola!

As well as giving thanks for what God is doing through the charity and particularly through Nicola, we shared a request for prayer for the potential Disability Awareness Tour 2018 and the Childrens’ Holiday 2018 to Hua Hin Beach Resort through our display stall, manned by different trustees through the day.

We seemed to be the only mission dressed in a charity’s uniform – worn by those who have been or will be going to Thailand to support the work at Bann Feung Fah orphanage – and the t-shirts seemed to be worn with pride!

John talks to the 7pm congregation

At the 7pm service, John was given the opportunity for a 5 minute talk to the congregation – one of 4 spots during the service. Of course, he invited folk to the Annual Quiz in March – see our Events Page.

In May, when (D.V.) Nicola will be home on furlough, there is a longer opportunity to present the work of 1Step2Step, as May is the month when 1Step2Step is focussed on. We are very grateful for the support of the St. Thomas’s church family – in prayer, financial and practical support. If any other churches or organisations would be interested in sponsoring the work, please get in touch with us.
